And some stamping...

I had to post at least one stamped item. I hope to have some more done this week - I have some new Non Stampin' Up! stamps - and I get my SU order today!

I need to resolve my photo taking issues - I created this "box" from 12X12 cardstock but I've seen some photos of other blogger's setups and I hope to have something better later - there are so many great photos of cards on some bloggers sites...plus my photos are too big, I haven't perfected using this new camera yet!

This penguin stamp is from Memory Box, Happy Birthday is SU! Everyday Expressions. I also need to figure out the watermark thing...Ack! And my new stamps - the penguin and Just a Note are from Memory Box and the cup cakes, Thanks and Happy Birthday are from Lockhart Stamp Co......now to find some time, in between coughing and sleeping, to make some cards!

Knitting and more knitting

I finally got my cotton tank complete this weekend. I was motivated because I want to wear it on our vacation trip next week to Cape Cod. I purchased this yarn last year and started it a few times, ripping out each time. After knitting my gauge yet again, I pushed on and finished. I added a crochet trip to the armholes, neck and bottom edge. I expanded the bottom edge a few extra rows to give it a lace look. This added crochet made all of the difference. I could control the coverage in the armhole area.

My sock dilema - I've got two pairs going - and I'm working on sock #2 for each pair. I wanted to try socks on dpns - I had only knit socks on circulars before - I think I like dpns better as you don't have to stop and pull your cable through. I'm using 4 dpns, not 5, which makes a difference.

Finally, I finished the socks I started at retreat weekend. I did these socks two at a time from the toe up on one circular needle - the ankle has a slight lace pattern.

Knitting Obsession....

I've been storing pictures of my knitting projects. Just a few to share here:

A felted pillow for my nautical inspired living room. These are actual nautical flags but now I can't remember which letters they represent. I'm sure one of you know!

I've been knitting a lot of baby items for the new Princess in the family - Emily Marie Allen - very smart girl, takes after her cousin Sue! I made this striped sweater before we knew she was a girl - I'll have to get it back from her mother and add some girlie buttons! Bekk?

I've been obsessed with knitting socks lately. Be prepared to see more photos of socks. Visit the Yarn Harlot blog or Knitters Anonymous - I'm not alone!

And so it begins...

Blogs ... it seems like everyone has one. So what do I have to say? I'm not sure but I know I'd like to keep up with my family and friends so... As most of you know, I'm addicted to knitting and have spent a major amount of time with stamps, ink and paper - to the point that my "stash" of both yarn and stamps/ink/paper are enough to occupy my free time well into my "twighlight" years and yet I feel compelled to add to the "stash", what is that about?
Some pics of the kids - I have been traveling a bunch for work - and the people I meet always ask me if I have kids and do I have pictures. Hilary sent me a picture of herself and one of Erik and Melissa. Hilary has been practicing with my old digital camera. I got a new camera for my birthday (ok, Mike and I bought the camera as a joint bday/father's day gift, but who is keeping track?). This means my first digital camera has been handed down to the budding photographer.
Erik and Melissa attended prom this spring. They had fun picking out the tie and vest to match Melissa's dress exactly. What a handsome couple.
Well, I know I'll have knitting projects and stamped cards to share. And I know that I'll toss in some unrelated comments here and there - feel free to add your comments.
I'm here - the blog world!
